Britta… Brandon… Baby!

The Big 16

So being the crazy planner that I am, I have already started to figure out what it is exactly that I need to purchase for this kid.  I know it’s still a long way off, but it makes sense to me to spread all of the costs over the next seven and a half months rather than try to pay for it all next October.  My friend Kelly (those of you who know her already know this) makes me look like the most scatter-brained person alive.  Saying she’s organized is like saying my father is starting to lose his hair.

Anyway, these are the things that she says I absolutely need to have starting day one of my child life:

  1. breast pump
  2. jammies with feet
  3. onesies, all sizes
  4. diapers
  5. binky
  6. bottles & formula, just in case
  7. pack ‘n’ play
  8. Baby Bjorn
  9. one bouncy thing, one swingy thing
  10. monitor
  11. crib
  12. rags and blankets
  13. car seat and stroller
  14. diaper bag
  15. soap
  16. medicine kit

So now I put this out to you Internet… do you have any additions?

This is a very good list, of course. I think it’s funny that breast pump is #1 and car seat is #13. Just sayin’ (KELLY) – since they don’t even let you take your baby home from the hospital without a car seat. And I think on #15 it’s soap and baby tub…’cause trying to wash them without one is very slippery. That’s why Miles had to stay so boogery the whole first day we got him…until we could go to Target and get a tub.

Very excited for baby vrosh!! Having no children of my own I cannot really comment on any baby related necessities, however if it were I in a family I would be sure that nanny was somewhere towards the top.

p.s. leave some of these items for us to “shower” you with :o )

Not a fan of the baby bjorn – just me. I like the sling personally, less fuss and way cuter/stylish.

Moses basket – you can borrow mine if you want.

Gas drops aka Mylicon drops or the genric form is like $5 less.

    Baby tylenol

O.K. sorry I just reread and saw you have “medicine kit.” but I think you will have to make your own so make sure it has those things in it and baby nail clippers as well.

WASH CLOTHS & BURP RAGS (cloth diapers are the best) – many you will use approx. 11teen per day.

Agree with Lisa. Although she had more, ahem, petite babies and the sling/wrap is good for that. I’ll give you my Moby wrap for when it’s tiny, it’s that brown t-shirt thing that I used all the time when Oz was just a lump. But when they’re fat or huge the Bjorn is easier on the back. You can have my that too if you want – Brandon will do better with the Bjorn and the one we have is the “Active” one so it’s kind of sporty.

The breast pump was number one for me because I did need it before the car seat, when my milk came in…..whoa, watch out! Sorry Brandon. …..tmi…..but kinda you have to get used to talking about things like boobs and poop….

I am with the girls who say go with the sling/Moby. I saw Erica with one on the 4th last year and I got one. Loved it. Brandon will probably want the baby bjorn. I have Rob and Siri’s. Can Britta and Brandon borrow it Siri?

Also, let’s not forget the fabulous MIRACLE BLANKET that Lisa gave to Siri and Siri passed on to me. Ryan and I would have lost our minds without that thing. Thank you Lisa. I never got to tell you that you made me like my baby a lot more because of your Miracle Blanket. This is the thing that makes babies sleep.

And ladies, there is also a new baby carrier in town – the Ergo! Love it. Great for when they always want to be carried on your hip.

Mmm, yeah, the Ergo rules. We don’t have one but that’s the only thing I’ve ever seen that makes kids sleep on your back when you wear them like a backpack.

I don’t have any babies, but from what I have learned…I would probably keep those ear plugs you use for your husband…for the baby as well.

I agree the Moby wrap rocks, i noticed that there is no mention of a changing table, with out that i could not live without, and trust me you are going to need spray and wash and lots of it for the occasional blow out, and i have found gripe water works better than mylicon for Addison…Congrats
